VJing Idea

I think for this module it would be quite interesting to promote my VJing idea I had for last terms Time Based Imaging module where the visuals relied completely on the music. This would be quite good because I could try and promote and sell it to clubs who are interested in showing visuals in their venues and who maybe don’t want to employ a VJ, and so with my idea they can just open the file and leave it to do its job all nite while the music is playing. However, I think I would have a problem with this because I have set the file up in a program called Isadora, which is not free, and so for clubs to employ my idea they would have to buy a copy of the Isadora software. I don’t know if I may also have a problem with using the Isadora software for this and if it is actually legal for me to sell my idea. This will be something I will need to look in to and find out if I am to go ahead with this and I would have to start by emailing the producers and owners of the Isadora software.

Personal Statement

For the first assignment of writing a personal statement I think I have got quite a good idea of what should be included in it. This is because of being involved within the field of art I have been asked to write short artist statements before to go with work I have produced. So I know my statement should include what I do, why I do it and how, but I want to research and look into other artist statements to enable me to produce a really good statement to represent me and my work.

Area of Work

I can’t decide at the moment what area of work I most want to work within. I have really enjoyed and would like to work within the the fields of VJing and producing music videos or something that involves me producing and recording different footage and 2D and 3D animation and effects. I am going to have to decide quite soon which one I want to take further and to promote myself within for this module, unless I can mix the two together in some way.

Module Study Guide

I have read the module study guide so I know exactly what the module is about and what is involved in completing the assignments. I wanted to start my blog now so I can keep on top of things and add posts as I go along and research for the module. At the moment I have no idea what Oral and Viva Voca presentations are for the second assignment but hopefully I soon will once I have done some research on it.

1st Lecture/Workshop

The module content seems quite interesting because it is enabling us to get some experience and to start promoting ourselves and our work within the real world. It is good because it means we can get guidance of how to properly promote and present ourselves and the work we are interested in doing.
